Word order
In a normal German statement the conjugated verb is always in second place: The first place can be the subject or something else.
If you start with a time or a place, the subject moves behind the verb: The verb stays second.
In a question without a question word the verb comes first: With a question word it is second:

- Ich lerne heute Deutsch.
- Heute lerne ich Deutsch.
- Lernst du Deutsch?
- Was lernst du?
- Am Montag arbeite ich zu Hause.
